The 8th annual Sun City Hilton Head Regatta was held Saturday and Sunday, September l0th and llth.  The proceedings got underway with a cocktail party on Friday evening at the home of Dale and Paula Smith.  A good time was had by all.
Saaturday morning arrived sunny and breezy on beautiful Lake Somerset.  At the Skippers meeeting stasrting at 9:00, it was determined that all l9 boats would sail together.  The racing began promptly at 9:30.  The racing was very close, with many skippers scoring wins, before the lunch break.  The lunch was served by the wives of the members of the Sun City Model Yacht Club.
After lunch the wind gusts were as high as l2 knots, all the skippers were careful, no serious collissions, many  boats were in contention, Richard Kahle, Rick Gerry, Joe Walter, Chris Kakavas, Rick, John Bottensek and Baron Bremer were all in contention.
Saturday evening the skippers anll had cocktails and dinner at the Okatie Creek Golf Club in Sun City.  Frank Angel left early, NASCAR on TV Richmond 400.
Sunday morning the skippers were greeted by another sunny breezy day, gusts to 20 knots.  Sailing got underway promptly at 9:30 with the results still in doubt.  After many races were sailed Reichard assumed control and was the winner.  All tht skippers enjoyed the great weather, breezy conditions and the marvelous setting.  There were very few conflicts, which were all settled on the water immediately.
Special thanks to all of the members of the Sun City Model Yacht Club for their help running the regatta.   We want to thank everyone for coming and hnope to see eveeeeeeeeeeryone next year.  Frank said the 97 car won the race.
