Welcome to the 2017 East Coast 12-Meter National Championship in Peachtree City, Georgia October 26-28.
Dear Skippers and Friends of the EC12 Class:
EC-12 Class Skippers and friends, the members of the Turtle Pond Model Yacht Club are making preparations for your class championship on Peachtree City’s 650 acre Lake McIntosh. The beautiful tree lined lake and the unique community of Peachtree City will make your October visit a memorable one. Situated 40 minutes south of downtown Atlanta, Ga, this venue will give you the opportunity to extend your stay and take in trips to some exciting attractions. The Coca Cola Museum, NCAA Hall of Fame, Georgia Aquarium, NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and the High Museum of Art to name a few. Fine dining available as well throughout the city. Five miles from your lake site, Senoia is the filming location for you “Walking Dead” fans!
Peachtree City will be the quiet oasis to enjoy your yacht racing, take a long walk along our 90 miles of cart paths that wind thru our community or just relax at many fine and varied dining options. We will be glad to provide recommendations, city guides and information during the registration process and upon your arrival.
The three day event will be centered around the competitive racing all EC-12 skippers enjoy. We’ll have members available at Lake McIntosh for early arrivals on Wednesday for those wishing to practice. The fleet racing times and format will be finalized after registration close-out. Continental style breakfast and lunches will be provided lake side each day of racing. We’ll provide info for your evening dinner plans. Capping off the championship will be Saturday night’s awards banquet at the Flat Creek Golf and Country Club right in central Peachtree City. Cocktail bar at 6pm, dinner buffet at 7pm. No ties or gowns required but appropriate casual attire requested.
We hope to spend some quality competitive and social time with all and reacquaint with old and new friends of the EC-12 community. See ya’ll in October!
